Not impressed with this business. I brought my camera in to see if they could look at it for me and see if they could do a tune up. They informed me that they don't do tune ups on site and that because my camera is older they couldn't send it out to the manufacturer. Pretty disappointed considering many say how helpful they are. I would have thought they would have offered suggestions or alternatives, but instead showed no interest in helping.

Great customer service! I personally was taken care by Jamie. She was super helpful, knew a ton about the merchandize, opened a new boxed Sony camera to show me the body of the camera, helped with the best lense for my purposed( I shoot weddings). Overall the atmosphere in the store and the customer service was great, so glad to have this store in my neighborhood. Definetely will be back again soon! :)

One of my favorite stores! The staff is very knowledgeable. Steven was great at helping me figure out what would do what I needed and did not try to over-sell me on something. He explained all the benefits of a certain lens. When I went over and checked out the range I would get for viewing etc. When I went back to the store to buy it he told me they actually had a resale of one in great shape.so I got to get a macro as well and still be in my intended budget.

Staff was nice, store looks great. Website is TERRIBLE. I called to reserve a rental and was told all rentals are done online. This is a silly policy when your website doesn't work. Glitchy, confusing, and unclear about the policies. I sent my colleague to pick up the rental and he was told it had to be a credit card. Would've been nice to know that beforehand. There's a link in the confirmation email that vaguely mentions it, no one is going to click that link and see that. You need a website overhaul it's 2022. I will not be renting here if I have the choice in the future.

I am located in Norfolk, VA, so when my brother who lives in MA, told me I should look for my Nikon d3500 on line there, I figured what did I have to lose? Everyone else was out of stock. Sure enough Hunt's photo & Video not only had it in stock, but they had a real live person on their website chat to walk me through all my questions about the product, availability, recommendations on peripherals, and shipping. Matt, who has an icon of a cat, came up on line right away, was exceptionally intelligent on all their products and knew the d3500 like he built the thing! or so it seemed to me. Needless to say, I made the purchase, paid for shipping. Matt was even the person doing the packing and setting up the UPS pick up.
The camera arrived in VA unharmed, and exactly what I was looking for this Christmas. Matt even helped me again after delivery to go over some of his recommendations on what items I should get as an initial start up. Fantastic customer service, great inventory, even when everyone else is out of stock, Hunt's Photo & Video came through. I don't see why I would buy from anyone else! Mike Norfolk, VA

Color film is simply too expensive and takes too long to get processed and delivered. One roll of 35mm E6 process film should not take 3 weeks to scan and process. Also that same roll costs roughly $50 to buy and have processed and scanned. Hunts gives pretty good results, which is why they get 3 stars. But the service is slow, pricey, and inconsistent. If you want to develop and scan black and white, my suggestion, do it at home. Color is unfortunately much more difficult to do at home.

I've shopped at Hunts for over ten years now. As a working photographer, it is great to have a local camera store to visit in person whenever I want to browse or need something in a pinch. Gregg has gotten to know my work style over the years and understands my specific needs. I appreciate his guidance whenever I need to make a purchase - his knowledge and honesty is an asset to me.

Such a great store! We brought our camera in to help us figure out why it was not working. Brad looked it over and called over the store manager Scott who worked on the camera as we waited! Five minutes later they had diagnosed the problem - malfunctioning memory card - got us a new one and for the price of the card, we walked out with a functioning camera! No waiting, no extra charge, just superior service and immediate attention! A rare gem in the retail world of today. Thanks Hunt's of Melrose!

Did not give me the digital file of my ID photo. When I came back to get it, they did not find my picture and simply proposed that I pay again 20$ to get it. Why should I pay again for a service that I already paid for? They should have proposed to take a picture again, for free, without printed version. Edit: I appreciate the fast reply from the owner on Google Maps to solve the problem and thereby changed my rating. Thank you Jamie.

Out of all the Hunt's in the Hunt's world. this is my go to. Amazing staff, service and a real "small shop" customer service vibe. I buy a lot of camera equipment from film to mirrorless. Having the right advice, resources, and ability to get hard to find parts is key. Manager Jamie Schultz has made this process so simple and streamlined. You a camera nerd? Interested in film? My favorite place in the city to print Photos. They have the friendliest and most efficient staff. Jamie is incredible and super at making life easy and making sure all my printing needs are taken care of. Hunts uses their Dropbox account link in which I can add the photos and they are ready for pick as soon as possible. Best quality can't recommend this place enough!

This review is strictly for an online order. I'm reviewing this location because its address was on the shipping label. I was looking for a black Fujifilm X-T3 body a few weeks ago. There wasn't a big price different between old and new ones, so I wanted to get a new one. Turns out it was sold out at the major retailers (B&H, Adorama, etc.), which was a blessing in disguise.
I got to really digging and found a lot of great local camera shops across the country. Most of the stores were either sold out of the camera or were selling it for much higher than what the bigger stores would have sold for. Then I found Hunt's. It was the last place that had the camera in stock for the price I wanted. I know they price match, but I didn't even need it! Anyway, I was skeptical, but the website had a "is this really in stock?" option that I tried out and someone named Chris responded almost immediately.
He reserved the camera for me and shipped it out right away after I ordered. There was a huge delay in shipping (UPS' fault, not Hunt's) and Chris was incredibly accommodating. He filed a claim with UPS quickly and worked with them to get the package back on its way to me. Overall, I can't recommend Hunt's enough. I'm sure most of the reviewers and readers will be from the Greater Boston Area, but hopefully this review will help others with making their online purchasing decision.

I needed to purchase seamless background paper and a background stand for an upcoming photo shoot. I did a google search and found that Hunt's had the two products I needed. I called them up and asked them if they had stock of a specific color of background paper. The gentleman said they had 2 left and offered to hold one for me. The next day I drove to Hunt's.
I was very impressed. The cleanliness and hygiene of the store was second to none. Everyone was wearing a mask and there were protective screens where needed. They also had hand sanitizer for the customers. The gentleman who helped me was named Gregg. He was great and super friendly. He brought out the paper that they had set aside for me. I also needed a background stand and he helped me with that. Gregg was very knowledgeable of all the products.
The total price was a bit more than I wanted to spend. He was able to offer me a discount, though, and I took it. There was absolutely no hard sell and no pressure to buy whatsoever! After I paid he even helped bring everything to my car and put it in my car with me. An overall great experience. They definitely won themselves a repeat customer.

Walked in a few weeks ago and was shocked how helpful the folks were. I came in to look at new canon cameras, and Steven was the first to explain all the new features. I didn't end up buying the camera but did pick up a drone battery and Micro SD card. Very nice place, definitely will return when I'm ready to sell out for the camera!

One of my favorite places : great people, great understanding of cameras and lenses, and they will work with you on any issues you have, unlike any online retailer. It will benefit you to build a good relationship with your local shop if you love taking photos or videos so you always have a place to go and kind people to assist you. This review is for the Melrose location: I'll be honest, I dread going to camera shops like this. I've had too many experiences of condescending salesmen talking to me in a patronizing way or just blowing me off. I used to do a lot of my own developing and printing, ran the darkroom at my college, and T.A.d photo classes, so I'm not completely inexperienced. I'm just not up on all the new stuff out there.
I came in to the store to look at a new or used camera to buy. I also brought my old one to see what the trade in might be. I was lucky enough to have Steve helping me. He was great. Very friendly. Answered all my questions and treated me with respect and dignity. He asked the guy that handles the trade-ins to look at my current camera. Trade-in guy was pretty cold and not very talkative. (my typical experience).
Kind of looked down his nose at me. Once that unpleasantry was over, Steve picked up with me again. He spent time going through the camera I already have and recommending ways that I could get out of it what I wanted (the reason I wanted to trade it in). He also helped me set up the app that allows you to use your iPhone as a remote, and recommended some accessories too. (They didn't have the accessories that I needed, so I had to order them elsewhere.) This to say that he spent time with me regardless of how much he could make in sales.
I so appreciate being treated like a valuable human being in a mostly male environment. When I do make my next camera or camera accessory purchase, I'll head over to see Steve again for certain. If any business wants to attract more female customers, THIS is how you do it. Thanks Steve!

So happy with all of my experiences at this store. What a treat to have this location so close to my home. I've used them as a drop-off/pick-up location for renting equipment through a third party and it has always been seamless. Recently they opened their own rental department and I couldn't be happier. They are quick, knowledgeable and friendly.
I recently needed a lens immediately, like within an hour, and they came to the rescue without any issues. I'm very thankful for their help and they saved my shoot from being a disaster. Highly recommend dropping by this location!

I recently visited Hunts Photo and Video to obtain some copies of 8 X 10's of my children's school photos. I think I am suffering from empty nest syndrome or some shit. That said, the two girls behind the counter seemed super eager to help and super friendly as well. I wont lie, it's intimidating all that fancy machinery they have in the store, but she pointed out which machine I should be using and it honeslty couldn't have been easier.
The cost was super affordable and even these do it yourself machines have the ability to let you edit photos and make them look as good, if not better than the originals. It appears they have everything and anything, and in a world of LOST photos, yeah you know it's true, no one prints up shit anymore, I like to think that places like this will always be around. not sure if it's accurate, but that's just the small business man in me. Hunt no further, they have everything.

I am very disappointed with Hunts photo. they measured the frame from the outside so when I received the Picture it was way to big for the oval frame. I had to cut about 40%of the picture for this to fit. NOT happy at all with them. After all the cutting and resizing it finally fit in the frame. way to drop the ball on this. not to mention the customer service I received. they did not want to open up the package when I showed up because they would not be able to put it back in the box? I will not be returning customer
