I've been serving up graphic design solutions for Portland and the Pacific Northwest since 1996. It's a career that connects me to amazing people. And while I dig pencils. Always something new, something different. Being a designer has limits only determined by oneself. So why place limits on what can be created? The past few months have brought a wide range of projects, each with its own set of goals and parameters. I have designed and built a combined landscape / hardscape project. ABOVE - The goal: build a website that sells the precision 24/7. Along with the collateral and business cards, the new website launched for Hytek Company allowed clients to request service calls, submit for bids, order equipment parts and check on shipping status 24/7. Exactly what every customer wants.
Creative artwork for special events is what I thrive upon. For Oregon State Parks my heart always wants to go all in. Tight budgets limit what they can offer, so I illustrate the shirt art, promo posters and window clings as needed. The image below was drawn to depict the way history informs the present.
For automotive illustration its all in the details, like knowing what the difference is between a 1957 and 1958 Chevrolet is (so important). Then to create a design that appeals to a wide range of Chevrolet buffs, which is not hard to do. Thus is the task of delivering a piece of automotive artwork.
As a layout designer I understand the process. By definition, the art of layout design is to communicate information visually by assembling components to create a visual design. Yes! Layouts are required for postcards, inter-office documents, posters, banners, brochures, booklets, catalogs and flyers.
