In 1973, Cheryl and John Raifstanger, Jr. launched their company in the basement of the Mahaiwe Theatre in Great Barrington, MA. The equipment consisted solely of a second-hand press and an IBM typewriter. The self-taught entrepreneurial couple set type by night and ran the press by day, all while raising three children; Jodi, John III and Jay.
