I grew up as the son of a printer, so I can tell good printing from bad. These guys really know what they are doing and run a very tight ship. All of my results with them were above expected quality, on time (often with only a few days notice given by me), and in one case, over quantity (they printed extra copies and essentially gave me the overage for free, despite me offering to pay for the extras).
This is a family owned and operated place. If you stop by the office, you will even get to greet the very friendly and adorable "shop dog". If you want either "real printing" (offset presses with plates and real ink) or commercial-quality digital printing, The Printer is your place in Davis. In fact, this may be the only offset printers left in Davis. There's something special about printing done the old fashioned and time-honored way. Something about the whir of the rollers, the thump of the feeders, and the smell of the ink. And my goodness, the quality is to die for.

Went here on a Tuesday and was told binding job will be done on Thursday which is cool because I told them I wasnt really on a rush and I could even wait till Friday but when I called, I was told they havent sent out the books yet for binding so I got it Monday. The top sheets are dirty. Idk about the binding jobs here in Davis but for 3 books with all dirty top sheet, $44 is a rip off. One star is for the the good customer service atleast.

I needed business cards, notecards for thank you notes with matching envelopes, and business stationery for my consulting business. I'm a one man shop that works with startups in the Bay Area. I tried Zazzle (unhappy with their quality) and visited the normal print shops in Davis like FedEx Kinkos. None of these seemed like they had the quality or design skills I needed. Ergo, my trip to The Printer.
I met with Laura one afternoon to go through what I needed. She was very patient with me (and my 1-year-old son I had in tow :-) She produced an itemized quote in just a couple days. The next week, I sat down with Mark (their designer) and in less than an hour, he modified my logo and designed everything I needed. I ordered everything on Tuesday afternoon and was told "about a week and maybe Friday for the business cards." Friday afternoon, Laura called to tell me the entire order was finished.
Very cool to be mailing out notes and business cards to clients on Saturday. The quality was very nice. The printing is very sharp, especially on the the envelopes and notecards - so professional. Well worth the time and money investment instead of mucking with online or copy shops.

I came to this print shop with a small print job and was thoroughly impressed with the quick turn-around time, the excellent quality, and the customer service. The person that I spoke with on the phone and in person when I came for the pick-up was very friendly and did a great job. Would come back again and highly recommend.
