We receive orders from around the world! Mail us your film and we will process it in our film processing lab in Carlsbad. We use top quality machines for our photo processing such as: Hostert Dip and Dunk machines. The machines are meticulously maintained for quality and consistency. For black and white film we use Clayton chemistry. For C41 color negative and E6 color positive film, we use Fuji chemistry. When you choose us for film developing by mail our experts scan your film using the award winning Noritsu Qss-32 machine.
Services
North Coast Photographic Services was established by a professional photographer in 1978, after seeing the need to provide quality photo printing to professionals and non-professionals alike. We have evolved from a 2 person 400 sq. We reserve the right to refuse any film or negative that in our opinion will not produce a satisfactory print, or is in our opinion of questionable subject matter. We love it when our out-of-state customers stop by and say hi! Being a top vacation destination has its perks!
At North Coast Photographic Services we offer disposable camera developing for all types of disposable cameras! Fuji, Kodak and underwater disposable cameras. You can get prints or digital files or both! Our most popular service is the "Develop, Budget Scan and Upload" which only costs $18.94 per camera.
The best time to scan your film is at the time of developing. This is because the more film is handled, the more static it creates and with more static comes dust. When the film comes out of the Hostert dip and dunk processing machine, it is carefully wiped down then hung on racks for scanning. The scan operator will scan your film, adjusting for color and density to give you the best possible image from your film. After the film is scanned it goes to quality control. Each image is checked for quality, ensuring images we deliver are error free.
A: In digital imaging, a pixel(or picture element) is the smallest item of information in an image. Pixels are arranged in a 2-dimensional grid, represented using squares. Each pixel is a sample of an original image, where more samples typically provide more-accurate representations of the original.

I've used them for years to print my digital photos. This year they're printing five to go into the photography contest at the San Diego County Fair. Bonnie, the manager, printed one on luster as requested but thought it might look better glossy. She printed a second copy on glossy and showed it to me when I came to check the prints before they got mounted on Gatorboard. It looks much better! I think that's great service.

Getting my film developed at NCPS was a great experience. They answered any questions I had, and their turnaround time was very fast.

I can not say enough great things about this place, they completed my two disposables in less than 24 hours. Extremely friendly and explained the whole process to me, pricing was extremely fair and I would have gladly paid more considering CVS was about same price took 3 weeks longer and ruined most of my photos. I have already sent 2 friends this place and will continue to use them for all my photo needs.

Great quality and staff. They provide a service only a local (and professional) print shop can. Reliable, fast, and caring!

First time there and they were super nice and helpful. I brought in my dad's old camera to develop the film, Jess and crew gave me a quick crash course of that cameras operation too. It was so nice dealing directly with the professionals instead of some impersonal pharmacy/Walmart print kiosk run by randoms. We'll be going there from now on for all our photo and digital printing needs!

I've only used them a few times, since I've gone mostly digital and haven't had a lot of stuff printed, but they are my go-to processing and printing service. Medium format, 35mm, digital, film (both negative and slide) -- NCPS has done stellar jobs on all of them for me, including color-correcting a print I didn't think needed it until I saw what they did with it. Wow!

This place rocks. And their prices are very reasonable. The first time I used them I'd had a local lab with a high end reputation do a job for me, and the results were so disappointing I didn't even send it back to have them try to make it right; I decided I needed to find somebody else, somebody who knew what they were doing. I mailed the negatives off the North Coast Photo Services, and in no time at all discovered I'd found a winner!

North Coast Photographic Services was able to develop two rolls of a 127 film - one in black and white and the other E-6 color slide film - for me at a tremendously reasonable price and within a day. I dropped my film off in the morning and got it back mid-afternoon. They weren't able to scan the 127 frames, which was absolutely fine by me since I just needed it to be developed anyway.

They were also able to develop a roll of 120 film with the same turn-around, and all out the gate for under $30. Any time I'm in Southern California and need film developed, I know where I'm taking it. And for unusual sizes like 127, I plan on taking advantage of their mail-in services as well.

I've been going to this place for years and they never disappoint. I just do a basic film development and they always get it to me within 24 hours (crazy fast). The ladies working the counter are always super helpful and nice. I recommend this place to anyone!

The difference between the pictures I got from NCPS and Swan is unbelievable. I had just about given up on B/W film photography because my pictures always came back flat and dull. The two rolls I just got back from NCPS were simply amazing. Same camera, lenses, film lot, and photographer - the only difference is the lab that developed the film.

I needed a jpg file turned into a mounted photo. This was a very low-res file, but North Coast Photo did a great job of making it look beautiful and mounting it on gatorboard. She showed me what the different options would look like, and I'm so happy with the final product we decided on. Very reasonably priced, especially for all the time they spent with me getting it "just right".

Developed some great 120/220 slide for me and even a roll of color negative. Beyond that, they we're able to accommodate it same day within a few hours because I was visiting from out of town.

The best combination of fast, efficient service with quality developing and scanning. I've recently started shooting medium format film and while they may be a tad more expensive than several other labs I've used, I also get my scans and developed negatives back much faster than any of the other labs. - I've gotten scans as quickly as the same day as they arrived at the labs, and never later than within 2 business days of arrival. Bravo!

Best prints I've ever gotten back! I won't be bringing my film anywhere else. Very happy to have such a great service locally! People from all over the world send their film here, and for good reason.

North Coast Photo really bailed me out of a jam. I went to another spot that I'd honestly give 1-star if I felt like being mean as mean as that place was to me. North Coast Photo welcomed me with open arms and sat with me as we worked on getting my photos just right. North Coast Photo does it right. They earned my business and they deserve a shot at yours. Get those beautiful photos off your phone and on your wall.

High quality work, high attention to detail. I won't take my photos anywhere else. They will remove photos from their servers if you want privacy, and deal with more risque content in a solid professional manner. Don't waste a minute going anywhere else. Fast turn around.

I've ordered quite a few pictures from them, and they are always high quality prints. I love that when you order prints, you get email updates with the status of your order. The prints arrive in a timely manner, and are always sent in cardboard envelopes with cardboard inserts to protect the prints. I will definitely be ordering more prints in the near future

I have been a customer for years! It is about time a give them a great review. North Coast Photo is wonderful, friendly and professional. Most recently I had my wedding photos developed here. The prints were all high quality, crisp, clear, and colors were on point! I would recommend NCPS!

NCPS is the best film processing lab I've had the pleasure of working with. I have mailed my 35mm and 120 format film (B&W, Chrome and negatives) to them from Washington D.C. for nearly a decade, and have never been dissatisfied with the results I receive back. Their customer service is always stellar (shout out to Bonnie), and the quality of their processing is professional grade. It's clear that they put thought and a high level of expertise into their lab work.

Despite living on the opposite coast from their lab, I usually receive my processed film and scan disks back within a week. If you're a professional photographer shooting film, or simply someone who wants to see your analog imagery processed correctly and expediently, look no further than NCPS.

I believe this place deserves a one star since they took advantage of my money and time. I ordered printed and digital photos but the machine was broken at the time so they promised to have them printed when i went to pick up my order. When I came to pick them up after 3 days they only had my digital photos on a cd and was charged for $38. If you want to pay that much for a scan or cd go for it, i recommend Nelson Photo down in point loma. They only require a couple of hours out of your day to have your photos processed. I will never be doing business with North Coast again.

It has been 9 months since my original review of North Coast, and I am just updating to say that these guys are my favorite place to send film to in the San Diego area. Why, the quality of the photos they give back to me are the best I have been able to get anywhere. They do things quickly. They have not fouled up any of my orders at all. I do wish they were slightly closer so I could drop off and pick up personally, but maybe I will just plan my day to go up there at non-rush hour.

My one quibble. It took me a while to get the postage right when sending in films. The post office does by different rules besides weight when sending in film. You need to send it as a package. So keep that in mind if you mail stuff to North Coast. My experience with these guys this year has been five star +.
